I am a fatty meat lover, love all kinds of fatty skin which is high in collagen (I tell myself it is good for my skin). Honestly, I really love this plate of fatty meat, if you are health conscious like A. then skip all the fats and skin and go for the meat, it is very tender. One plate of pig's trotter rice comes with preserved vegetables and a braised egg, look at the bright yellow egg yolk.
Another top favourite was the Wanton mee. I thought the portion was pretty small and so is the size of my wanton, but it has a sweet and refreshing taste. On my second visit, we ordered two bowls of wanton noodle with a plate of pig trotters to share, even though I finished most of it on my own.
Dessert was the famous crepe stall just at the end of the overhead bridge. I ordered banana with cheese and nutella crepe for 120 baht. I thought it was quite pricey for a crepe, but my crepe was humongous, took us forever to finish it, not complaining at all.
This was really da bomb, sweet and salty (from the cheese) crispy with banana topping.
Next destination was Chatuchak weekend market. We decided to take the BTS to avoid the crazy traffic on the weekend. It was really convenient to get to chatuchak, take to Mo Chit station or check with the ticket counter before purchasing your train ticket.
Selfie on the train with our selfie stick haha, which attracted quite a number of stares.
The crazy traffic at Chatuchak.
It was drizzling quite heavily in the morning when we just arrived at Chatuchak and despite getting a new umbrella, it was really quite inconvenient to move along the streets with the crowd. So the next moment, we found ourselves hiding shelter and taking a break at this bar.
Mojito for the lady!
I love the victorian garden theme decoration, wish I could bring something back to SG.
Popsicles to quench the thirst in the hot and humid BKK!
This is my fav coconut ice-cream. You must be thinking all coconut ice-cream taste about the same (at least this is what A. thinks) but nooooo, I love this stall coconut ice-cream! One of the reason why I insisted of coming to Chatuchak. Their coconut ice-cream is very refreshing and less milky.
If I am not wrong, there is one franchise in Sentosa but they marked up at least 3 times the price.
Generally, I prefer shopping at Platinum mall, it gets a little confusing where they have so many sections at chatuchak and it is really warm and humid with no air-conditioned. We headed to Siam Paragon to rekindle with my after you toast. I absolutely love the shibuya toast the last time I had it, but
I decided to try the other toasts. Black charcoal shibuya toast was their new addition to the menu and I ordered the cheese shibuya baby toast. It took them quite a while before the toast was served. Just looking at the queue outside, you know how popular they are.
I still love the orginal signature shibuya toast. We got really gelat halfway through even though it was good but never be too greedy, haha. After high tea at Afteryou, we headed to the newly added tourist attraction in BKK-Asiatique. We took a BTS down and had to take a ferry to cross over. They provide free ferry to cross over but there was an insanl long queue and we decided to pay 20 baht each for the express ferry. Beautiful night scene at Asiatique-riverfront where we can see the fanciful restaurants when we first alighted from the ferry. Taking a walk into the old warehouse featuring souvenirs, furnitures, fashion small stores etc.
We decided to dine at Happy Fish because they was screening the second match of Ryan Giggs, all for the Man U supporter. The food was quite a disappointment, we ordered pork ribs and fried calamari. I had really poor lighting and couldnt get a nice shot. Other than the fact that they had a live band and screening Man U match, we probably will not settle here. The service received was also quite inconsistent, I honestly dont think I will patronize this restaurant if I do visit again. The prices there are about 3-4 times much more expensive than you will get in the city. It is about the same as what you will pay back in the restaurants in SG- about 20 SGD for a main, and this is definitely a ripped off in Bangkok.
Taking a stroll around Asiatique and enjoying the night breeze.
Street artist, I was more amazed by his cornrow hairstyle which attracted flies.
A photo before we take the tuttut back to our hotel.
This place was highly recommended by my boss. I remember dining here years ago when we stayed across the restaurant then.
The corner where all the som tam are made.
Dessert stop- I thought this is pretty unhygienic, placing the ingredients unattended/covered on the shelves even though it is indoor.
Papaya salad, I love having lots of shrimps in my papaya salad.
Finally ordered one of the signature dish thai dish- basil chicken. This is A's favourite dish and whenever we dine at a Thai restaurant in SG, he would order this dish.
Green curry, another must order if you are in bangkok.
Eating like king and queen, I think we totally over ordered but somehow we still managed to wipe off everything on the table. Truly, amazing at our appetite after this trip.
Okay, I still ordered the dessert. I really love red rubies! They are made of water chestnuts and I think it is a perfect match with coconut. I would love to have some chendol if I wasn't stuffed.
Till the next time we meet,
XOXO
