Lola's Cafe & On The Table | Winglets and nacho fries

I am sure many are familiar with Lola's Cafe situated at Simon's road which is just a few minutes walk away from Kovan mrt. It is your backyard cafe amongst the landed house/ blocks of condos. The small homely cafe seats about 30pax and with many of the well-loved dishes. It is no wonder that the wait for a table on weekend can goes up to 90mins. We were lucky to be able to skip the crowd on a weekday noon, when Weiying and I were both clearing leave.

Yes very belated post, visited during last year-end hence the reindeer hair band on the server and christmas decorations below.

Piercing through the thin layer of egg white, you will see bright yellow egg yolk flowing out like a lava. What's unique is the avocado spread that comes along. They got their basic right on this dish:D

All time fav croissant, I love croissant!! My fav dish at every breakfast buffet spread. Buttery croissant with fluffy scrambled eggs, honey bacon, pork ham with cheddar cheese and mayo dressing. Another very well played dish made up of simple breakfast food.

Look at the generous amount of nacho cheese on the shoe string fries. This is love, but kindly share this dish as they come in enormous portion.

We were really hungry after skipping breakfast and lunch, especially after our first Bikram Yoga class. Lola's is quire generous with their portion and despite being famished, we really had difficulty finishing what's on the table.

Closed on Mondday

Lola's only allows reservations on Weekdays, Mon -Thur and not on weekend. But fret not, if you would like to try such awesome food without worrying the wait, go to On The Table

#Onthetablesg, remember to add sg behind the hastag because #onthetable is overly used for tagging anything that is literally on the table. A spread of food, books, flowers anything. This cafe is a sister's cafe of Lola's. Even though they share almost the same menu, the layout of the cafe is a total opposite. Spacious seating that gives you your del deserved personal space. The cafe design follows a rustic industrial look and feel.

I have decided to ask Weiying to skip the wings at Lola's because I knew we would order this on the next day when I visit On The Table. Crispy honey glazed wings with succulent meat is one of the favourite that wins the brunch crowd over.

The table salad(S$10) with almond nuts and mescaline and balsamic dressing. Loves the crunchiness of the almond flakes bring. Get healthy before we get nasty.

Duck Confit with mushed potato(S$18) I am a sucker for anything potato, I love how creamy the mashed potato is, melting in your mouth.

Eggs Atlantic(S$15)- comes with my all time fav smoked-salmon. Again they always perfect their poached eggs with hollandaise sauce.

Prawn Aglio Olio (S$18): Flavourful with sweet juicy prawns pasta. I like the right amount of spice for this dish.

Fries with dipping truffle mayo (S$18), finds this over-priced for a side dish especially when the trull is in the dipping sauce.

The Big One (S$18) The big platter that has everything. But I actually prefer the fluffier scrambled egg served at Lola's.

Salmon & Mushroom truffle cream linguine (S$16) When anything comes with truffle, just order. I will chose cream based pasta to tomato based anytime. Creamy and tasty truffle but this is definitely gelat for one to finish on his/her own.

Waffles with ice-cream (S$10) $8 for single scoop and additional $2 for every scoop of ice-cream. They have quite a variety of ice-cream flavors which took us a while to decide then finally go for Strawberry and salted caramel. I love how thinly crispy the waffles are. Note that there will be a 15-20 mins wait for making the waffles.

Flourless chocolate cake for the bday girl, super early bday celebration for this Nov Baby<3

Been long since we have a meet up like this.

Citizen pop, a healthy soda with natural ingredients. They promised no-nonsense. Started by a group of local entrepreneurs, support local brand and be hip.

Interesting mix with the ginger taste, pretty refreshing with the ginger taste.

Ultimate Croissant (S$13)

"Can'r resist the truffle smell!"

I was back here the second time with my dance mates from 'My hands' all the grueling training under Kris, is time for some energy replenish.

Pistachio rose sliced cake. Not my kind of thing with thick sponge cake. I will recommend waffles over cake :)

[Long over due] Christmas party + Staycation

Happy New Year (belated) but here's wishing everyone a great year ahead, where you are surrounded with abundance of happiness and love. As much as I love the year-end festive season, I am looking forward to what's ahead for me. I have yet list down my NY's resolution, I have to give it a serious thought and make sure I make plans and effort to materialize them.

One of the reason why many adore the festive season is because of all the food, gifts, celebrations and time spent with your closest earthlings. Same here for me, it is indeed a season to be jolly about. Earlier in December, I was invited to my first event ever, also the first Christmas party of the year- OOTD Campaign Christmas Edition which was held at Cafe Melba located at Goodman Art Centre.

Beautifully light snacks bar set up for the party.

#SGCampaign curates campaigns to raise awareness on different categories. One of which is #OOTDCampaign.

The smoked salmon canapés that I kept aiming for.

Asparagus with quail eggs and truffle/

Creme brûlée which wasn't moist.

All these new friends I made at the event:

Yes the theme of the day is White X Gold!

Thanks for lending me the head chain, and my companion <3

Last one with the gorgeous Feline!

Christmas Staycation @MBS

Over the last Dec Hol, I had my first stay cation at MBS with the #BrunchDateGirls Jo's dad kindly sponsored us with a free night at MBS. Yes I have been to MBS hotel a couple of times but never did stay over or visited the infinity sky pool. So excited for the first time.
Jo recommended her fav snack from MBS, the Truffle fries. We wanted a light snack before headlong up for a swim but it started raining in the afternoon so boooo had to change the plan.

We were really hungry and decided to go for an early dinner. Along the way, we got distracted by the Christmas tree, so here's my OOTD Green theme.

Lesson learnt, always make a reservation for dinner time especially over the weekend. Is almost impossible to get a seat without having to queue. Caution, queuing time goes up to more than half an hour everywhere u go, even coffee bean bistro.

We decided to settle for dinner at TWGC, can't believe this is also my first time dining here. TWG is known to specialize in Tea selection and I am pleasantly surprised with the quality of food served.

Tea blended Milkshake, it was a little weird, I would very much prefer my usual Vanilla milkshake or chocolate banana milkshake.

My fav of all, was the Moroccan mint tea infused- seafood lagsana. Could be a little gelat to some but one of the best lagsana I had especially the mint tea infused sauce.

Duo Salmon, so fresh so yumm but barely enough to fill one up.

Herb Crusted Salmon

After dinner we took a walk at Gardens by the bay Christmas night market. Far from London/Europe Christmas Mkts but better than none. The lights were beautiful if minus the humidity, crazy crowd and louder Christmas carols.

Took the risk to hope into the EXTREMELY MUDDY FIELD to take this picture, it was gross trying to pull my feet and sandals off the suction of the muddy field.

WEEEEEE favourite activity of the night was X'Mas Gift Exchange! I am so bad at wrapping gifts and I made Rachel (now my ex-colleague BOOO) to wrap all my gifts for me ;P

Us posing our gifts from our secret santa! From L to R: Bev's secret santa was Jo, Shu's got from Cand cand, I got mine from Shu, Wenhui received my secret gift, Cand cand got hers from Bev and Jo received from Wenhui.

Bought our supper snacks right after dinner, pre-planned supper!

The beautiful X'mas log cake from MEDZ. The sponge cake was moist and right amount of cream in between the layers.

Selfie using Bev's camera with rotatable selfie lens and flawless skin effect!

Pyjamas shot! We played heads up while we took turns to shower. It was really hilarious when all girls are playing this game, a lot bimbotic moments and awkward actions or moves performed! Can't wait for our next staycation!

And I was really excited in the morning because it was my first time up to the sky pool. Was really worried that the weather may not be cooperative but looked, bright and sunny. Beautiful set up and design looking over Singapore skyscraper. But it was insanely crowded, no one can swim freely without bumping into someone.

First time here so must spam photos! SUA KU haha

Breakfast in bed, technically we are out of bed but still, sitting on the bed is also considered as BIB? Btw their waffles and french toast were really horrible, tasteless and slightly cold. Standards of such brunch menu has been raised by the cafe hypes.

I really miss Dec holidays feel like I need another long break.

XOXO,
Yan Ning
