Ringggggg… Assembly Time!

My weekly cafe hunt was at Evans lodge last week. It is situated beside Hatched@ Evans Lodge and it reminded me of Aussie small shop houses where the cafe door is really small and vintage-y. I would probably missed the entrance if I wasn't paying attention. Well I was looking out for the 'A'ssembly logo where everyone takes their #OOTD shot.

Well this is probably one of the smaller cafe I have been to but lucky the crowd wasn't crazy lots like Chock Full of Bean. I guess I was lucky and our wait was only 5-10 minutes before we got a table at 2pm, okay to be fair maybe the lunch hour was over too. So I heard Daphne was the owner/founder of Assembly and also the Barista for their famous coffee.

Assembly has quite a limited menu choices but I could easily identify a few that I was eager to try. I know I know, I am such a real glutton.

I had Scrambled egg Croissant with Smoked Salmon. Ohhh love the watery scrambled egg served in between my toasted Croissant. The past few times when I had scrambled egg, they were all done too salty. I like the dressing of my salad and quite generous amount of smoked salmon to go along. Their atlantic smoked salmon was pretty fresh too. I realized I can't take smoked salmon on its own and I usually have to eat it with some toast or in this case my croissant, else it will be too salty or gelat to finish it.

My cafe kakee is also a lover for Salmon and there wasn't much on the menu for her to choose so she settled with Smoked salmon salad. I think there was quite a decent amount of smoked salmon to go along with the greens. Dressing was citrus vinaigrette, a little sweet and sourish taste with the greens, orange and nuts mixed.

Dessert of the day was Horlick Tart which honestly was a disappointment. I was expecting some real horlicks flowing out from the tart. But to our disappointment, it tasted more like condensed milk which was overly sweet and guilty. I would love to go back to try their famous homemade waffles instead.

And yes if you have been reading my daryre @smileybrows, you would have guess my cafe hunt partner last week was Sabby my cutie mousey. My friend who eats so little compared to me and really petite in size, I really feel like a giant beside her. Though she is small but she has a generous heart and giving nature. That's her SLOWLY eating her greens. And ever sine she had on braces on, she is eating ever more slower than before. No wonder she never gets fat while I continue to gobbled my food down when I see delicious food in front of me...

Thats the OOTD spot that I was saying, people taking their OOTD in action.

Here's mine:

Our ootd shots taken together by the owner's dad. The uncle was vey polite and friendly. He was standing near the entrance and kindly helped to hold the door when we were exiting and when I re-entered to take a few photos of the cafe. After, he offered to help us take a couple of pictures when we stood long enough outside the cafe, shamelessly attempting to take our OOTD shots (refer to above).
Yes and I enjoys it when someone tries to make small talks, asking for feedback. I felt a bit mean when I told him I didn't really like the tart (I did tell him rather nicely and ensured him that I will come back again haha) but to be fair I was just trying to be honest with my feedback instead of telling him I really love the food and write lousy reviews here. I did enjoy myself at Assembly though it was pretty cramped and there was little privacy as the tables are really closed. I am looking forward to go back for the pork pull sandwich and home made waffles, highly recommended my the founder's dad. I could see  that he is very supportive and proud of his daughters, awwww.

My #ootd shots on Good Friday. Starting to dress up in bright colors!

Last Wednesday I rushed off from work to join the queue at Sushi Bar. I have been craving their Aburi sushi for the longest time and I was really excited to try it. Seriously, it was really good. Seared  salmon wrapping another sashimi, hmmmm. I would love to go back and try more of their aburi sushi with sashimi lover since A doesn't take raw food and I had to finish all 8 pieces on my own. After dinner, I went down to Fat boy burger bar and get ice cream sandwich from icecreamcookieco. Love it love it and has been missing since the last time I had it. They don't have premium ice-cream like Hagen Daaz( my all time fav) but I like the sandwich idea of having something to chew alongside with my ice-cream. That made me a very happy girl, stroke off two items off my cravings list.
