OZ Specialty Coffee & Slappy cakes

OZ Specialty Coffee

During my Uni days I was introduced to 'Brunch', and slowly becoming an avid cafe fan. Friends around me kept telling me that I am always eating good food, visiting all the cafes in Singapore. Some of them would ask me for suggestions and I would run thru my cafes list to provide some options for them. When I am browsing through my IG feed, I will usually keep a lookout on the cafes that my friends/people I follow goes to. A always says that I 'monkey see monkey do' but no lorrr, I really feel that social media adv has a very strong influence on the popularity of the cafe. With good reviews and high exposure on social media, people will then know about the existence of the cafe. The deciding factor for them to return to the cafe is then the food and service quality.

Anyway, back to my cafe hunt last Sunday, I visited OZ specialty coffee with my darlings. This is a very very small cafe situated at the new mall, Thomson V two along Thomson road. I am not overstating when I say small because even their work space(kitchen) is really small(and ahem messy). There are only four outdoor tables and one indoor high bench.

As you can see on their menu, they have very limited main options. Nonetheless I was still pretty satisfied with my scrambled egg and smoked salmon breakfast set.

This staircase did not lead us to more seats, it is actually used for storage.

What's on the table:
Their scrambled eggs are not very fluffy nor salty. Not the best but not too bad. I like the salad dressings and the generosity of smoked salmon given for the price I paid.

Morning catch: hearty breakfast served with smoked salmon, scrambled egg, multi-grain toast, tri-floral honey and fresh greens.

This is under the light breakfast section.
Smoked scramble: light breakfast served with smoked salmon, scramble eggs, brioche toast, Arugula Dijon mustard.

Classic: Hearty breakfast served with scrambled eggs, streaky bacons, multi-grain toast, specialty jam, sausage and fresh green.

Salted caramel waffle!
This is my fav waffle, the best waffle I have tasted, yet. I am not a fan of salted caramel especially those super burnt

Iced Latte that has strong espresso in it. I couldn't take the bitterness of it.

My friend with very nice nose bridge.

Slappy Cakes

Brought my nephews out to Fidget at Turf city for playtime and we all had a lot of fun chasing the kids and playing the slides. The kids were moving too quickly that I gave up snapping images because they all turned out blurrrr. Exhausted after running after the two boys, I brought them to Slappy cakes for DIY pancakes. All kids love to play their food so this is a legit reason for them to play.

Quick snap of the menu, four steps to ordering:
1) Pick a batter
2) Choose your fixings
3) Add some toppings
4) Cook your pancakes

If you are lazy or don't want to take the chance to mess up your pancakes, you can go for their all day breakfast mains.
Their pancakes have nothing to rave about other than messing around with our food. We received sub standard service from one of the female server and it was quite difficult to get their attention too, considering they only opened up the first floor seating that day(non peak hours).

Oh and one more thing is that they didn't allow us to make phone reservations. When I went over at 130pm they were full and I had to leave my contact on their waiting list. It was a full 90minutes of waiting before they  finally called back with a table. We had just entered fidget so thats right. I had to 'queue' again for a table later that evening.

Nevertheless, happy day out with the boys!
