Gæst + PS Cafe

Happy weekenders!

Very happy that I managed to do some cafe hopping this weekend:)

First stop is a cafe opp Amoy Food Centre. Gæst is a very new cafe that just opened last Dec.

They have very limited variety for Saturday menu, we ordered almost everything on the menu.

Scrambled egg with smoked salmon with homemade sour dough.

Next is omolette with fresh salad and sourdough bread. The scrambled egg was quite fluffy. I like both scrambled egg and omolette but both were a tad too salty.

This is the potato sandwhich- salt boiled potato, with hazelnut and rye crunch with smoked mayo sauce.

ChickenSandwhich- Roasted chicken breast with celery stalk and fresh herb cream.

The classic order at brunch places- poached eggs on toast.

Hot chocolate made from pure Valrhona chocolate and milk only:)

Dark chocolate mocha, I am not a fan of coffee because of the aftertaste but this dark chocolate kinda overpower the caffeine taste. Starting and slowly to appreciate coffee:)

What's on the table:

Our usual routine before we dig in.

Overall the food is decent with pocket friendly prices. Our total bill came up to $103 with 6mains and three drinks. Serving mainly the Nordic breakfast necessities. However our dining experience will be made better if we receive better service.

After our lunch, we visited P.S cafe @ Ang Siang Hill for desserts:)

First up is Sticky date pudding:

I am one of the rare one who doesn't like caramel, hence not a fan of this pudding except for the Vanilla ice-cream.

Key Lime pie, refreshing lime curd for the taste bud.
Drumrolls for the next dish...

Truffle shoestring fries!!! I have heard so much rave about these mountain high of truffle fries with parmesan cheese. I am a fan of potato and anything with truffle but to be honest, I have tried equally good or better truffle fries out there. Still a worthy price(S$15) to pay for such big portion of fries.

Presenting our bday gril:)

November 8 + Latte e Miele Artisan Gelato

Almost about a month back, together with my #brunchdategirls, we went out for cafe hunting. We were suppose to go wheelers yard. Unfortunately they have a private event that afternoon and nothing was posted on their website or FB page:( made a wasted trip there. Lucky Alvin sent me there and we picked the girls up and went over to the Thomson area. Initially, we wanted to visit OZ Specialty coffee but came across November 8 when we were alighting. Pretty sure this is a hidden gem and not many know about this cute little place.

We ordered Egg Benedict, Potato Rosti,November Egg and sweet potato for our savoury mains.

The Eggs Benedict has a slightly unique Hollandise sauce which we all like.

A few of us ordered November Egg that came with scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, gourmet York ham (we all didn't really like it), portobello mushroom, tomato & creamy avocardo spread.

Shu wei ordered Potato Rosti, I was excited when she ordered that because I was choosing between this or November egg but I succumbed to smoked salmon.
Freshly made Rosti which was crispy on the outside was served with light scrambled egg, bacon and gourmet pork sausage which was savouring.
The only disappointment was the sweet potato fries, slightly tasteless and soggy.
I think they serve pretty decent coffe, had a sip from Candice cappuccino and I kind of like it.

For desserts, we had Berrlicious waffle with a scoop of icecream. If I am not wrong I think we ordered earl grey flavour. Love waffles that are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. November 8 did it the way I like with the right choice of ice-cream!

Plus point 1, was that they have great service, the server constantly fill up our little glasses with ice water:)
Plus 2, they open on Monday, how rarely can I find a cafe on Monday?
Plus 3, prices were NET, GST included!

Latte e Miele Artisan Gelato
The weather on Sunday was so unbearable. After the few rainy days, the sun was back up and the heat was killing really me. It became a need for me to have ice-cream.

After lunch with A's family at Bukit Timah shopping centre, we headed to Turf City to satisfy my cravings.

The pistachio flavour didn't taste as great as the 1st time I had it, the nutty taste was very strong. Blueberry cheesecake was good but I couldn't taste the blueberry halfway, like it tasted very milky and rich and I think because of the pistachio, I got pretty gelat after. I would say they serve pretty good gelato, super rich. Waffles are served warm and was crispy initially but I think it quite thickv fluffy kind.
This place is pretty kid friendly as they have a little playground with small slide. Very popular place on Sunday for families with kids. Constantly I can hear kids screaming and laughing, which can be a little annoying at times but they are so adorable.

What I read and found on the website.
1) Gelato was made daily fresh in small batches.
2) Has lower fat content compared to most other gelatos
3) Higher density because they churned at low speed to incorporate the least air into the mixture

Made me happier eating their gelato knowing is lower in fat content.

New found fav Kway Chap

Yesterday was an impromptu supper date night with our usual double date couple, Weiru and Jolyon!

Refuse to ask for a selfie because I just had facial with A.

Side track a little, yesterday I brought A along for facial and it was his first time. Turned out that he has quite decent complexion even without any skin care routine.

Anyways, we went to MacPherson to check out this Quan Lai Kway Chal stall and one good thing is that they open till 1230am daily!

I was more than satisfied with the meal. Pretty impressed with the intestines and the braised duck which was very well braised. The soup that came along with the Kway Chap has a nice herbal taste too. We spent a total of $37.50 for four people, but considering the amount of food served on the table I think is pretty worth it.

Looked at the number of articles pasted at the stall!

We ordered Kway chap for four pax and asked the boss to mix and match since we don't really know what to order.

Their braised duck meat was tender without all the fatty skin:) I also love the fact that all the bones were removed for us.Weiru specially asked for the braised duck since she doesn't eat pig intestines.

The best part of the meal was this plate of fried pig intestine that came with ngoh hiang. It was crispy at the side and chewy in the inside which is quite unique. Usually fried intestine are super crispy yet Quan Lai is still able to retain the chewy texture of the intestine. Even weiru who doesn't eat intenstine likes the fried one.

梅菜,preserved vegetable is something that I love to eat especially with pig trotters. I don't really like the one from here as it isn't very flavorful not salty. I think I will skip this when I revisit them again.

Excursion to the Zoo & River Safari

It has been quite some time since I last visited the zoo! Huey min the bday girl wanted to go on an excursion and visit JIA JIA & KAI KAI!

So here we go! The queue was really long when we arrived and G decided to buy the tickets online using her phone, thank goodness for smart phone and technology, and we managed to skip the queue.

A group picture before our adventure!

Love riding on his back❤️ G was laughing at us and said this was how we started.

The sun was blazing at us and we were  all lethargic after a couple of hours roaming ard, we decided to go catch the Rainforest fights back show.

We had some spare time before the show started, so selfie time!
With Sab hunn:)

One with hippo! He look like a small kid with my cap! The way he wears it is Super 80s

Glad that these two ladies finally met each other! And there will be more outings like these:)

A very cute jump shot snapped by the talented bday girl! It was quite an easy jump shot that didn't took us long before we get this perfect picture:)

My darlings for life. 😍

Hahaha if you realized there really isn't any pictures of the animals. Unlike primary school excursions, we kept snapping pictures of the random animals using a film camera. Those were the days. But one thing didn't change for me was buying tidbits and started snacking one whole bottle of chips while walking. Once a glutton, forever a glutton!

A picture with my ladies:)

We headed to River safari shortly after the show to catch the pandas before they 'hibernate'!

That's Kai kai on top of my finger!

G holding on to our chips of the day! Hahaha we were snacking all day long!

And soon it was dinner time. By then we were all famished and bashed from walking under the sun for half a day. We made our way to Valentino, at turf city! Been wanting to visit this cozy family-managed italian restaurant but always missed the chance to as they are always fully booked.

They also owned a cake shop- Perla which serves very good vanilla sponge cake(Chantilly cake) and chocolate cake with rum (Valentino cake). One of its store is located at Takashimaya basement, the food hall area. That's where I ordered my 21st bday cake from.

My Summer floral theme 21st Party!

We managed to surprise the bday girl with chantilly cake before the mains were served! Haha!

Happy birthday hunn! I know you had a blast celebrating your birthday! To many more years of celebrations together and stronger friendship 💗💗💗
